It was a pure russian provocation & aggression against Georgia.
Nothing new in it. Russia (not to mention totally dictatorshipped Belarus) was,
and is, a cannibalistic country where a Defence Minister's son is allowed to hit
by car, to death, an elderly woman, without any juridical pursuit and punishment.
