Tutorial don't count towards the leaderboard, and are generally 'easier' (ie, tutorials )

Classical count towards the leaderboard and are simply correct/incorrect.

Challenge are more 'achieve the best score you can', and are scored as such, so the better your program achieves, the higher score you get. There usually isn't a 'correct' answer.
