Reviving the discussion after some time away from the site...
Haxe is something new. It has interesting syntax and a lot of expressive power... Also, and more important for some people, it can target multiple platforms from a single code base:
- Desktop via Neko, C++, Java or C#
- Mobile (Android, iOS, ...) via C++ or Java
- Web via Flash (ActionScript) or JavaScript
- There are always other targets (languages or VMs) in development
The suggestion to support Neko (a lightweight virtual machine) came because that was the most "natural" target for Haxe... But it has been more than two years and now most targets could be used without any problems (at the time the Java target was still in early development, and the C++ target still had some glitches).
Given current status of each target (and my experience with them) I would suggest the following options (in the following order):
* Haxe -> Neko
* Haxe -> Java
* Haxe -> C#
* Haxe -> C++
* Haxe -> JS
Any change of including this language on SPOJ? I am available for more details and I obvisouly would (like to) help with the instalation and configuration of the service and targets.
