TLE really pissing me off

I've come up with solutions to several problems in python that will work but still get TLE
i don't understand why this website has such tight restrictions. can't you give us like 10 seconds to process a 1000000 primes or what have you?

There are (at least) hundreds of problems at SPOJ that can be solved with Python within the given time limit.
If your program needs 10 s to calculate 10^6 primes you should improve the algorithm.
